So, I gave 4 months for the latest Quiz since I'm sure people have been out of the habit of checking the site for updates. It turns out, though, that this was one of the toughest quizzes ever. You can check out a new Quiz and hopefully that one is more accessible. As far as the rest of the site, I have plans to update. I'm sure they will develop slowly, but I hope to do at least something before the end of March, as it will mark 10 years since I started the site! Hard to believe it's been that long!

Long time no see, friends. After almost two years, I've decided to get back to something I used to love, but I let get away from me. We have a new Quiz that many of you have probably been waiting a long time for. Hopefully there will be plenty more to see around here soon. No promises, because I'm obviously awful at that, but I'll see what I can do. It's good to be back!

Two in a row! I've started the January 2004 Quiz. Updates are still sporadic, but I'm making good progress on my rewrite of the CDs and Songs sections. Hopefully we'll see it sometime this year! In other site news, I have added a page for Let It Be... Naked.

Well, the monthly Quiz went well for one month, but failed in its second month. Onto December, where the Quiz makes a glorious return. I'm sorry, but I'm trying. In other site news, I did renew the stevesbeatles.com domain name, so it does not expire until 2008!

For once I am a man of my word. A new month is upon us (in three hours) and the new monthly edition of The Quiz is ready to go. Coming soon, at the suggestion of one of my visitors, will be a new stats page that will start with this Quiz, so for those of you that haven't been playing for years, you'll have a shot at seeing your name up there. So... Well, I guess it's been a little while since I last updated the site. The good thing is that most of the site's content is very useful without updating, but I realize I have a lot of (former?) fans of The Quiz out there who would like to see an update. Since I've tried several times to keep up with The Quiz the past couple of years and I have failed, I think I'll bring it back as a monthly feature instead of billing it as weekly and then never actually updating it. I have been rewriting the site on and off for the past year or so. Turns out there was a problem with any pages in the Quiz that sent out an email. So if you need your password and got a stupid error, try again to use the Forgot your password page. I've been working on my rewrite of all the site code, but I'll find time for a new Quiz very soon. Happy holidays!

I fixed the serious problem with the site that has prevented everyone from being able to answer The Quiz and kept me from updating anything. I had my host enable something on my site, and it made it so database could no longer be written to. Sorry about that. Go ahead and answer the new Quiz.

Well, clearly I should never make any promises, as I'm no good at keeping them. After a record delay, a New Quiz is now available. Things have been interesting the past few months. As you may know, I graduated from college in May and got a job as a software engineer. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, the company folded, leaving me as "dislocated worker," a new phrase I learned at an unemployment seminar a couple weeks ago. Now it's time to get back to work on the site. So hopefully quizzes will be a bit more frequent than every four months, but no promises. Enjoy :-)

Hello. I know it's been a while since I updated, but it's been a very busy time. I graduate from college in two weeks (!) so between working to finish up classes and looking for a job, it's been a little bit stressful. In fact, this update is an excuse for me to take a break from doing work (on a Saturday night). There is a new Quiz up. I can't say it's going to be weekly again quite yet, but it's been a long time since it was. In two weeks my life will change completely, but I hope to use that as a jumping point to get back into the site and do all the things I always say I'm going to do. Thank you to all the people who have emailed me and wondered how I was and I apologize for not emailing people back. Take care!

Well hello there! I didn't realize how long it had been since I last updated until people started emailing me this week to see if I was OK. Thank you everyone for your concern. Finally, there's a new Quiz for you all. You see, I've been wanting to set up the mailing list stuff that I told you all about, and I wrote some mailing list code for another web site I work on, but I haven't had a chance to integrate it with the Quiz system. It's complex because I have retroactively verify people's email addresses and verify the new accounts being made. And trying to work and do school while trying to enjoy my last semester of college has made things a little crazy. But at least I'll update this and start working on the email stuff soon. I was kind of waiting for the email things to be ready before I updated again, but that never happened. So back to regular Quizzes hopefully and thanks to everyone who continues to visit even though I never update :-)

Hey there. New Quiz up. I tricked a whole bunch of you last week with a tricky one. Hope it was a fun way to get back into it. I'm still working on updating the Quiz to have email notification. It's a little tricky because I'm going to need to introduce some email address verification for the accounts so I don't get a ton of email bounced back to me every week. Not only will new accounts require email verification, but I'm going to have to verify all the others when you select the notification option. Shouldn't be a big deal, but if you play the Quiz, you can take the extra minute to check the address that is in there for you this week so when I get the new features ready, you'll be all set. What's this? Steve is alive? Yes. During and after the hardest semester ever, I was a little bit shell-shocked, which led to me completely ignoring this page, as I'm sure some of you noticed. But I'm back and with a New Quiz even. Over the next few weeks I will be adding an email notification option for The Quiz. This will let you opt-in to an email list that will let you know when I post a new Quiz. By doing this, I will be able to free myself from the restriction of posting a new Quiz on either Sunday or Monday, which often led to there being no Quiz at all. This way I can post a Quiz any day of the week. All of them will be available for at least one week, so if there is a certain day you've become used to doing the Quiz, you won't miss it, which was a problem of putting up a short Quiz. And also, you won't have to keep coming back here to check if a new Quiz is up yet. I hope this will make people happier and actually lead to more Quizzes being up over the long run. I'm actually STILL UP at 6:30am here, which unfortunately hasn't been a uncommon thing these past few weeks. But I am finishing up the last of three final projects and when it's done I'll be done with three of my classes. And since you all have waiting so long for a new Quiz, I hope you don't mind waiting until Monday night when I'll be done with this project and going to classes for the semester. Just a quick note to say that updates probably aren't going to be seen, as they haven't been, as I'm in the middle of working on three final projects all due over the next two weeks. I'll be back with updates after than and then I have a whole month off from school to work on the site.

Well, the big server transition has happened and everything seems to be OK. I put up the new Quiz, so things are really back to normal here. Well, it's back to school work for me. Enjoy the new Quiz.

If you are reading this, my site has been sucessfully transferred to the new server. Super cool! Check out the Pictures area for the biggest new changes. Also, there are new printable CD pages, the Red and Blue CD pages have lyrics on them, the first disc of Anthology 1 has properly transcribed lyrics (the rest of Anthology 1 and all of Anthology 2 will be coming soon. Anthology 3 has been that way for a while now) and remember, there is no Quiz this week.

The old Quiz has ended and as I said last week, there will be no Quiz this week because of the server switch. I will be submitting the change and it should go into effect mid-week. I hope everything works OK!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I will be ending the current Quiz this Sunday, but there will not be a new Quiz because sometime during the week, the site will be switching servers and it's too big of a headache to have to deal with reconciling the two different databases. I still have a few things to do before the new server goes live, so hopefully I can get them done this weekend. Then soon, I'm planning a complete rewrite of the Quiz, since I've learned a TON since I did it. In fact, the Quiz was the first real web programming project I did with a database. After that it will run better, may have some new features, and will certainly be easier for me to handle things. Also, as part of that, I will be deleting the large number of accounts which were created and then never used, including many people who, for whatever reason, created multiple accounts. New Quiz! I'm happy to report that the move to the new server is going quite well. I have some cool new stuff coming, including a much better way of handling the picture collection which will make it easier for me to add pictures and easier for you to view them. I'm aiming to make the switch some time next week. Cool.

I can't be expected to get back to weekly Quizzes right away, am I? But good news: I have purchased the new space for the site and I'm working on some improvements that will roll out with it in a couple weeks. My current hosting ends November 10, so it will definitely be by then. The site will live on, and hopefully with some cool new things.

Apparantly some people were having trouble answering the new Quiz. It seems my script that handles starting a new Quiz didn't finish processing last week's entries, so I just did it manually. That would explain why some of you emailed me saying you didn't get credit for the answer. Let me know if anything is amiss.

Could it be? An update? Why yes, friends, I'm back. And with me I bring a new Quiz after two months without one. Over the past couple months between working and school, I've been very busy. But one of the top things on my mind is what to do with this site. As I mentioned before, my two year contract for hosting this site is up in about a month and my hosts prices have risen and I don't feel justified in paying such a high price for what is a hobby for me. However, I understand that there are many of you out there who enjoy my site and I do want to continue it. I'm currently looking into a few hosts that will allow me to do everything I do now but for much cheaper. I'll keep you informed, but things are looking up for the site. A couple little things, though: I removed the MIDI files after receiving a semi-threatening letter from music publishing group BMI about having unlicensed music on my site. The ones I did weren't much good anyway. Also, while I am continuing my site, I want to reflect what's been a reality for the past few months: I don't have the time to reply to email asking me questions about the Beatles. I wish I could, but I've been trying over the summer after pledging that I would do a better job and I couldn't. So, while my site will remain as a Beatles reference, I cannot offer myself as a reference because as some of you may have found, I'm real bad at replying to email. Sorry about all that. And thanks for reading through such a long update.

I'm still super busy with work, hence another two week delay for the new Quiz. The summer seems to be a good time for an every two week thing anyway, even though I'm sure most of you would rather see me do it every week. Well, this week is my last week of work for the summer and two weeks from now I'll be in my room at school, so it's going to be another busy couple of weeks. In some actual site-related news, I was successful in my attempt to stump you all with the last Quiz. Extra congratulations to those of you that answered correctly. This week's should be a little easier.

I suppose you all are pretty used to me not updating regularly now, but the new Quiz is now available. I've been super busy with work recently, so I haven't really had much time for the site. I'm almost leaning toward just maintaining it as a reference for Beatles info and getting out of the updated content thing because I don't have a lot of time for it. Also, I have make a decision about the site soon because in November my two year hosting agreement is up and I have to decide if I want to shell out $500 of my own money to keep site going for another two years. Sadly, I'm currently leaning toward no. I have enjoyed working on the site quite a bit, but especially as I graduate from college this year and move on to the working world, I don't know how much time it's going to leave for keeping up the site. I don't know. Just random thoughts coming up right now. I still have a few months to decide.

Hello. For those who are too lazy to read, the new Quiz is up. Anyway, here's my story: Last weekend my hosting provider upgraded the server this site is on from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000 which is all well and good, except that in the process they managed to kill the account I use to access the site. So, that's why the quiz wasn't updated. It wasn't until I received an email yesterday that I actually realized that I never updated it. Apparantly in being all busy with work I totally forgot to put something up here to explain what happened. So, this is a late apology for that mess. So, as I said at the top, the new Quiz is available and it's probably too easy, but I'll try to stump you next week.

Another Quiz up on time. I've been home from school for a month now and this was the first good weekend we had, so I didn't get a chance to work on the site at all. But I should be able to get some stuff up this week and next.

It's Sunday afternoon and there's a new Quiz up. In other site news, I have made the decision not to reply to all my old email because many of them are very old now and replies won't make much sense. I invite any of you who have emailed me at all during 2001 to send me another email. I do this with the risk of looking like a jerk, but the plan is to start answering site email at least twice a week and to work on the site more often and I think this is the best way to get there. Wow! I actually updated The Quiz, believe it or not. I'm almost done with finals. Algorithms is on Tuesday and Abstract Algebra II is on Wednesday. And then it's summer. If you want to check out the biggest reason I haven't updated in weeks, check out my final project for Comp106 here. It's a Java version of Tetris that seems to work pretty well. Let me know if you find any bugs. Although I've promised it about 80 times, when I get home from school later this week I'll actually be able to go through my email for the site and respond to you all. Fantastic. I've also played a little with a small site redesign and come up with a short list of improvments to make over the summer. I'll try to make it worth your time to start visiting regularly again :-)

Hi everyone. As you may have noticed, I haven't been working on the site very much recently. I'm entering my last week of being at school with finals and projects aplenty. Hopefully I'll be able to get a Quiz up this weekend. Over the summer, as some of you know, I tend to have a bit more time to work on the site and I usually do some cool stuff. This summer will see lots more Beatles info appear on the site, which is something that I haven't done in a long time. Also, I hope to look into a simple new design for the site and improve the user experience a bit. Anyway, I'm gonna get back to studying for my Jazz Theory final, which shouldn't be too bad. The real fun comes next week with two very hard exams Tuesday and Wednesday. Boo.

I just put up the new Quiz. A day later than I wanted to, but at least it's there. Sorry I haven't been real attentive to the site (and still haven't answered all sorts of email) but I've been pretty busy with school. If you have a couple extra minutes, check out my latest assignment for my Java Object Oriented Programming class here and if have even a couple minutes after that let me know what you think of it. We're gradually developing a more advanced user interface and I know it's pretty lame, but I'd love to hear thoughts. Well, I've made some progress here. If you check out the Songs section you will see that there are now three different ways to sort the song list. The biggest thing I did won't be quite noticable yet, but I created my interface for adding notes to songs. I will be able to start adding all sorts of interesting facts to the songs that I have sitting around. At first most will be be what was already on the site before January, but there's lots more to be had. Also, if you can think of any other useful ways to sort the song list, let me know. Email still hasn't been answered for the most part. I wanted to get this stuff done tonight. Sorry. I'll get email answered eventually. If you've sent something and I haven't replied and it's really important, send me another email telling me that and I'll try to get to it right away. Hi. I'm writing from home where I just started a new Quiz. Pretty tricky, huh? I actually made the sound clip before I left school on Friday. I think I'm going down to school Wednesday night to work on the site, so check back at the end of the week or this weekend for some cool stuff. In other news, my best friend, Joe, and I drove today from my house to Canada because we had nothing better to do. It was lots of fun and we drove around rural Quebec for about an hour and then drove the length of New Hampshire to get back home. Spring break is cool. Hi there. I'm bracing for the big snowstorm that supposed to be coming across the northeast US today and tomorrow. I just hope I don't lose power in my dorm, because that would just be bad. Hi there. I actually have a new Quiz up on time, so that's good. Since I made it easy there were a ridiculous number of correct entries. Something like 160. I hope to lure some of you new players in, but for the veterans this week's should be more of a challenge. Remember, if you have suggestions, please email me. I'd be especially interested to here from some of the players who have been around for a while about what I can do to keep the Quiz fun, be it more statistics or more challenge or whatever you can think up. I have plans to actually write the admin interface for the song pages that I've been planning to do for over a month now and once that's done you'll start seeing notes for the songs. Hopefully I can find some interesting info to put up there. And finally, I've started to toss around the idea of making some changes to the site. I figure I have tons of content, but the site, while very readible and fast to load, isn't all that pleasing on the eye. Obviously I don't want the design of the site to ever be the main focus, but I would like to try some cool, maybe even experimental, design ideas. Oh yeah, one more thing if you're still reading. A very exciting date is coming up this week. This Friday, March 2, marks the 5 year anniversary for Steve's Beatles Page. Hi there. I managed to screw up my computer trying to set up a dual boot thing with Windows 98 because there's no driver for my DVD decoder for Windows 2000. Everything's cool, but I have to reinstall everything, so as a result the Quiz won't be updated until Monday. Thanks for understanding.

Hi there. Just started Quiz #150. That's a nice even number. I'm moving back to school tomorrow and I'm looking to get the sorted lists of songs up this week. I still have to write the code that will let me add notes to songs, but I should be able to do that this week as well. Once I do, notes should start appearing on the song pages and hopefully they'll be interesting. I know I haven't answered much mail this past week, but I'll take care of that this week as well.

Hi there. I have lots to say, so bear with me. First of all, there is a new Quiz online. I made this one a little harder because way too many of you got the last few right. Second, I worked on the site a bit this weekend and I put all the info for the song pages into a database on my computer. This will let me make listings of songs sorted by things like lead singer and songwriter, which are things some of you have asked me about. Right now, all that I have changed is all the extensions of the files across the site have been changed from .shtml to .asp, which will makes everything consistant and gives me the option of adding code to any page. Also, the song pages are generated on my end by the database now and everything is pretty much the same as they were, except the Notes for the songs are missing (not that there were many anyway). I will be adding those and with the new setup on my end, it will be easier to add them, so hopefully we'll see some additional notes for the songs. I will continue working on the site this week and I'll let you all know what I'm up to.

Things seem to be back to normal with the site and I finally have a new Quiz up! I'm working this week on some things on the site, so hopefully I'll have some stuff that you can actually see (instead of stuff on my end, which is mostly what I've been working on so far) by the end of the week. One improvement is that the news on the front page is retrieved from a file that is created whenever I modify the news instead of the database, so the front page should load a little quicker. I'll keep you posted as I get things done.

It seems now some permissions have been messed up on the server, so I can't even access the Quiz pages right now. Hi everyone. I just had to post that I'm all done with the Fall 2000 semester and I'm now back home! I'm very excited about the next four weeks. And to make this post remotely Beatles-related, The Beatles 1 will be the #1 album in the US again next week, so that's pretty cool. Later.

The past week has a been a little rough, and it didn't help that while I'm studying for my math final, first Windows 2000 decides it wants to give me a blue screen of death when it boots up and after finally getting Windows and all my applications reinstalled, the new hard drive I bought two weeks ago decides to crash, taking a bunch of my stuff (including all the work I've done for the forthcoming Guitar Chords section of the site) that I hadn't backed up with it. I wasn't happy. But I ended up with an A in abstract algebra for the semester, so I was pretty happy. I now just have to compose a song for music theory (in the style of early 19th century German Leider) and take an open book test in my databases class Tuesday night. And then my best friend is going to pick me up on Wednesday on his way home from working at Logan airport and then I have four weeks off. I'm very excited, if you can't tell...

Hi. I just wanted to wish a Happy Thanksgiving for those of you celebrating tomorrow. I will be home until Sunday, so email will likely go unanswered. I think I am all caught up with my email, so if you've sent me a question over the past couple of months that I didn't answer, send it to me again. I'm not very good with that whole organizing thing when it comes to my email. The next month or so won't see to many updates with the site, as I'm entering the final stages of the semester, but there are some cool things coming after the new year, as I will be on winter break. Finally! After hours of fixing, breaking, testing, and fixing my Quiz admin scripts, I have everything up and running again and the new Quiz is live! Sorry for the delay, but at least I have a valid reason this time. I'm going to make a few more fixes to things tonight and hopefully optimize some code to make things faster for you. Cool? How about a new Quiz ready for a Monday? I tricked a bunch of you with last week's slightly shortened Quiz. A couple items of note: the official Beatles' website at thebeatles.com goes live Monday and the new Beatles greatest hits album The Beatles 1, comes out on Tuesday. If any of you don't yet have any Beatles CDs, this would be a great introduction to their music. It would also make a great gift :-)

Sorry for another delayed Quiz. Those of you who have followed the Quiz for a few years now know that about this time in the semester I get really busy and get bad at updating things. Hi there. The long weekend for Columbus Day here in the US threw off my schedule, but finally there is a new Quiz ready. I stumped a lot of you last week. My favorite response, though, was "You shouldn't spend so much time on this." I'm hoping that my schedule will lighten after tomorrow and I will be at school for the whole weekend for the first time in a few weeks. I really want to finish the Guitar Chords section and it would be nice if I actually responded to the email that you send me.

Why am I still awake? I don't know, but I do know there's a new Quiz. Last week's was amazingly easy and a crazy number of people got it right. This week's should be pretty manageable too, but might make you think twice. Guitar chords still on the way. Didn't have time to work on them last week because I had lots to do for work. I'm shooting for them to be all ready in about 4 weeeks. The Beatles Anthology book comes out on Thursday. Have you ordered your copy yet?

Between school and a ton of stuff to do for work this week, I haven't been able to go through my mail. Hi there. I am back at school now and everything is going well. I know there was no new Quiz this week, but starting Sunday it will be back to the weekly schedule. Just wanted to let you all know what I have in store. I am currently putting together an update that will list the lead singer of every song and I am leaning towards adding a section with the chords for the guitarists/pianists out there. Hi everyone! I'm back and although a day late, the new Quiz is up. I decided to make this another relatively easy one to attract some new people. If you haven't tried the Quiz before, this is a good time before I try my hand and making another difficult one. Due to popular demand, I removed the design changes I made on the front page last week. I'm thinking of something else to spice up the site, since that's what most of you indicated I should do in the mini-poll I had a couple weeks ago (which got lost due to a bug in one of my scripts). I made a new mini-poll so you guys can tell me what needs the most work on the site. It's sometimes hard to be a fair judge of that when you put so much work into something. New Quiz is up. I realized that I've been pretty tough with the quiz the past few weeks, especially last week, so hopefully you'll find this one a bit easier. Also, I did a little organizing with the site, the most notable thing being the merging of the Beatles Recording Sessions section into the songs section.

Hi there. As you can see, I'm experimenting with a few design ideas. So far I can't get these to look that great on Netscape 4.x, but that is largely due to Netscape's poor support for Cascading Style Sheets, which I have used for the design. If you are using Netscape, take a look with Mozilla/Netscape 6 or Internet Explorer and it should look like it is intended (the maroon bars extend across their column and look much less out of place). The page is still viewable with Netscape, so I think I might leave it. Comments or suggestions? Send me an email.

I finally finished the code I was writing for the new Mini-Polls. If you haven't yet answered it, you should see a poll to the right. New Quiz is now up. Now that we have been using the new system for a while, I'd like to get some feedback from you. If you have anything that bothers you about the Quiz interface, something you would like to see added, or think it's fine the way it is, please let me know. Since it is the summer I have more time to work on the site, so I'm still trying to get an idea of where my time is going to be needed. Thanks a lot.

I have implemented code in the Poll scripts to combat the massive voter fraud that has been taking place over the past few months. Since I didn't catch it right away, I have reset the numbers in the poll to what they were in January. The good news is that I also prepared the database to support new poll topics which should hopefully start appearing soon. If you have any suggestions for the planned mini-polls, which I think will appear on the front page next to the news, please send them to me.

Added an Amazon.com page to the Buy Things section of the site. Now you can get Beatles books and movies in addition to the music and sheet music offerings already there. Remember that I get a percentage of every purchase you make through the links in Buy Things and I could really use it to help pay for the site. A Quiz up on Sunday night? That's right...

Those of you who play the Quiz will notice a couple of new items on the main menu: View Current Streak Leaders and View All-Time Streak Leaders. I wrote the scripts I have been planning that will keep track of consecutively quizzes both currently active and through the entire history of the Quiz. I hope everything is working properly with that. I would also like to say thanks to frequent visitor Volker Meder for sending me the idea :-)

I removed the bulletin board because there had been only one post in almost two weeks. Not a big draw I guess...

I added a couple of things to the Quiz tonight. Did a tiny bit of redesign on the main menu. Nothing exciting there. The excitement is in a new menu item: Access Quiz History. You can now play along with all of the old Quizzes you may have missed and can then check the answer to see if you were right. This is great for new players, as you have almost three years worth of back quizzes to practice and also great for the "oldtimers" as they have probably forgotton old quizzes by now. I have a couple of other tricks up my sleeve that I haven't written the code for yet, but it will be soon. Stay tuned...

The new Quiz is up. I'm finally moved back home and all settled so improvements to the site should start up soon and I will be much better about getting the Quiz up on time. I've been so busy with school for the last month and a half that it has often been difficult for me to get the new Quizzes up on time, but I hope you understand and I hope you continue to enjoy playing. I'm still alive! I finally updated the Quiz. Yesterday was my last day of classes, so needless to say things have been quite busy here the past few weeks. I'll try to stay on top of things through finals and through the move back home. Hope all of you are doing well and remember to send your suggestions for stuff I can do to improve the site over the summer.

I just looked at the Poll results for the first time in a couple of months and it seems there's been some ballot stuffing. Not that it's a big deal because these aren't even remotely scientific polls, but I ask you to respect the Poll and not manipulate it. I'll probably write some kind of prevention into the scripts now that I know it has happened. I'll probably then restore the numbers to where they were a few months ago. Or something like that...

As seems to be a tradition now, I am starting to come up with ideas for what I will be improving on the site over the summer, where I should have more time to work on it. Among things being considered are bringing back the old Trivia section in some capacity, adding all sorts of pictures I have scanned, adding more images from the CDs, adding a Guitar Chords sections for the musicians in the audience, and some general improvements. If you have any suggestions on how other things could be improved or other things I should add, please let me know.

First of all, I want to apologize for disappearing for a week. I had three exams last week and they took their toll on me. I'm back in the saddle now, though, and a new Quiz is up. Enjoy!

I haven't yet had a chance to add this into the site, but I wanted to insert a plug for a fellow Beatle fan. Andy Stone, a visitor to this site and a member of Boston-based Beatles tribute band Not The Beatles has written his first novel, the wonderful All Flowers Die. A couple new features added to the Quiz. First, if you would like, you can hide your email address from being displayed by updating your User Profile and unchecking the Allow Email Display box. This will keep the address in the system so you can retrieve your password if necessary, but will hide your email address on your User Profile page. Also, you should now be able to click on the number of the Quiz in a person's history and see the entire winners page for that Quiz. I will also make a history list soon.

Hi. New Quiz up. I'm back from Spring Break now. I did some more work on the Quiz database today, hopefully bringing more of you up to date. It's not perfect yet, but I think it's at the point where I'll ask you to email me if you think my count is off by more than one or two. I'll try to take care of everybody as quickly as possible. Hope everything is well.

New Quiz up! A small note: for some reason I'm getting all of the new Quiz mail sent back to me. I don't know why. It used to work. I'll look into it but if anyone needs their passwords and the mail isn't sent, let me know and I'll do it manually. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Alright, one more thing: If anyone else is noticing the .asp pages (pretty much just this page, the poll, and the Quiz) are loading a lot slower than the .shtml pages (the rest of the site), please send me an email. I've been having lots of delay issues with the ASP stuff, and I don't know if it's just me. Also, I am updating more of the All-Time Winners database. I know that the numbers aren't exactly correct and once I get back from break, I will try to resolve all outstanding issues. Once that is done, the new system will be totally functional. Oh, yeah, except that I realized that I forgot to implement the second half of a small feature that allows a users to hide their email addresses from people viewing their profile. I don't know if anyone would use it, but I actually wrote the code on the display end, but there's currently no way to enable that. I'll do that too soon. If you haven't figured it out yet, I ramble when I'm tired.

Another note: I am on Spring Break this week (3/18-3/26) so I will probably not be very prompt in replying to email. Although I haven't always been known for that either...

Tonight I made the first update to the site not relating to the Quiz in quite some time. I added covers for the British EPs, which can be found in the section. Unfortuately when I lost my email a few weeks back, I lost the name of the person who sent me these, but thank you :-) On a similar note, if anyone has the covers for the American Albums or singles, it would be great if you emailed me an arranged to send them to me! Now that the new Quiz is in place and is working well, I hope to put more time into the rest of the site.

Magic! I just ended the old Quiz and started a new one. Total time: about 5 minutes! It seems everything processed correctly, so that's good. Quizzes will start on time after this week, but I wanted to give a couple extra days for people who were having trouble logging on.

I am posting this again because I think most people missed it: I had to cancel Quiz #111 because I lost my email midway through the Quiz. I felt that cancelling it was the most fair option to everyone involved. As a result, no one will get credit for this Quiz.

Things are back to normal with all the sections of the site. Sorry for the weirdness. The new Quiz system seems to be going well. One bug I'm looking into involves Netscape and user names with spaces in them, so you may want to avoid spaces in your user name if you use Netscape. Let me know if you have any problems. I'm also working to populate the database with all of your old Quiz entries. I realize these aren't exactly accurate yet, but soon...

Hi... still need to update Quiz. I'm actually debating starting to use the new system this week. Not sure if I've tested it enough though. Hmm... Also this week will see the four year anniversary of this site. I'm in total amazement that I've been working on this page for that long. It seems like only yesterday I was typing out the lyrics to all of the songs...

I had to reformat and reinstall my machine today because I had screwed it up to a point of unusability. However, there was one casualty: my email file. It seems when I was backing up my email file, I had Microsoft Outlook open, so without warning it backed up an empty file and when I restored all of my data, I found that I lost my mail. As a result, the Quiz for this week will not count, as I've lost all of the entries before Friday. Also, if you have sent me mail that I haven't responded to (which is likely because I've fallen behind in my email replying), please resend the email because it was also lost in this episode...

I'm back from the dead. Seems a reinstall of the web server at my web host overrode a setting that I needed for the site to work. I'll hopefully get the new Quiz up tonight. In other news, I hope to start a beta test for the new Quiz system as early as next week :-)

A little bit more code written. For those interested, here are the features that I have programmed so far for the new Quiz: Add User, Update User Profile, Display User Profile, Logon, and Auto-Logon with cookies. Not a whole lot, but there isn't much more to be done in the User Interaction bit. Now on to coding the actual Quiz Interface and Winners pages. I'm so excited about this. Soon I will put up a beta test for those interested in testing things for me and catching any bugs or user issues. Stay tuned for updates!

Hi everyone. Just checking in to let you know that I have started writing the code for the new quiz!. I have a functional script that adds users to the database and does all sorts of error checking. I'm getting pretty excited about this. As far as the rest of the site, I know there are still some things left outstanding from the move last month. I move back to school Tuesday January 18 and hopefully I'll have a little bit of time to work on the new Quiz and some of the other stuff since it will be early in the semester. I'll keep you updated though.
